WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
UWMC - Montlake has an outstanding opportunity for a Respiratory Care Specialist. Under general direction, the professional Respiratory Care Practitioner at the Respiratory Specialist level utilizes the respiratory process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to recommend/consult, prioritize, delegate, coordinate, and provide safe, therapeutic allocation of respiratory resources to patients. Makes independent judgments/decisions and takes action regarding a wide range of routine and complex staffing issues. Collaborates with appropriate disciplines to coordinate continuity of patient care from admission through discharge in support of the respiratory, medical and nursing plans of care.

WHAT YOU BRING:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a critical care Respiratory Care Practitioner AND a minimum of 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care or related subject.

  • ACLS Certification

    OR

    equivalent education/experience.

    *Legal Requirement*

  • Current Washington State respiratory care practitioner licensure.

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.

    WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
    The Respiratory Care Specialist performs specific leadership functions related to clinical practice, education, and/or management as delegated by and in collaboration with the Respiratory Manager. As assigned by the Respiratory Manager, assumes patient care supervisory, and preceptor responsibility. Provides leadership for unit and departmental activities that promote:

  • Delivery of quality respiratory care,
  • Effective problem solving and communication.
  • Continued professional development for self and others.
  • Serves as role model and provides guidance to other staff including review
  • and evaluation of performance.
