The CTE program at CCC is expanding its offerings to meet industry demand. We are seeking a dedicated, experienced, full-time faculty member to teach within the growing area of automotive. The position will be responsible for teaching an array of courses including: Automotive Basics, General Maintenance, Automatic and Manual Drive Trains, Suspension and Steering Systems, Heating and Ventilation, Engine Service and Repair, Electrical and Electronic Systems, and Brakes.

Teaching assignments may include alternative delivery methods (such as hybrid or online instruction), day, evening, and weekend classes, credit and non-credit, and may be at multiple sites. Full-time faculty must be able to work collegially in a team environment and be willing to nurture and maintain business and industry relationships that grow the program

About Coconino:Coconino Community College (CCC) was established in Flagstaff, Arizona in 1991 and serves all of Coconino County, spanning an immense 18,661 square-mile area. Bordered on the north by the Grand Canyon and Lake Powell, Coconino County is home to 150,000 residents and the ancestral lands of several tribal nations. At an elevation of 7,000 feet, Flagstaff (the county seat and home to Northern Arizona University) is surrounded by one of the world’s largest ponderosa pine forests and offers four beautiful seasons with mild weather in the summer and lots of sunshine in the winter. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses, adhering to course outlines and student learning objectives.
• Prepare and implement syllabus in accordance with college procedures and course outline.
• Keep and submit all essential instructional records according to the College calendar including reporting grades and attendance.
• Notify Deans and Academic Operations Coordinators in case of absence from class. Work to find substitute to cover class when at all possible.
• Follow all college policies and procedures including information on Letter of Intent (semester contract).
• Respond to student inquiries in a timely manner.
• Utilize Learning Management System (Canvas) to at least the minimum threshold as indicated in college procedures.
• Check CCC email and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
• Attend college meetings as required. This includes New Faculty Orientation upon hire, biannual beginning of semester all-college faculty meetings, monthly faculty meetings and committee meetings.
• Actively serve in college-wide committees as assigned.
• Participate in student assessment and relevant program assessment as directed by the Dean or Vice President.
• Remain current in practices, trends, and research related to discipline area.
• Actively engage in assessment of courses and works to engage in college wide assessment program.
• Participate in student recruitment and retention efforts in collaboration with the Dean or Provost.
• Follow accepted standards of conduct as described in applicable administrative procedures which relate to satisfactory service and conduct becoming a faculty member.
• Partner with Adult Education in the development of Integrated Education Pathways.
• Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
• Champion a collaborative and positive educational environment for all students and staff.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to teach assigned courses effectively. Knowledge of the subject area, computer and related technology (including Learning Management System). Ability to maintain professional ethics and confidentiality of students and staff. Ability to support and promote the mission, values, purposes, and strategic plan of the College. Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse and team environment. Ability to integrate subject area with other related curricula. Knowledge of the applicable state and federal laws, such as Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Minimum Qualifications

Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications A1 – A9 (Brake Systems, Engine Repair, Suspension and Steering, Heating and Air Conditioning, Electrical and Electronic Systems, Manual Drive Trains and Axles, Automatic Transmission and Transaxles, Engine Performance, Light Vehicle Diesel Engines).

And/or 3 years directly related industry experience.

Preferred:

Associate’s Degree in the field of Automotive Technology OR

Associate’s degree and work experience related to the field of Automotive Technology OR

Associate’s degree and professional licenses/specialized certificates in the field of Automotive Technology

Enthusiasm for teaching and learning and willingness to share that excitement with the CCC community. Commitment to student success. Experience teaching in a higher education setting. Experience working with diverse students and colleagues. Experience using learning management systems (i.e. Canvas, Blackboard, etc.). Bilingual in one of the languages spoken by our students preferred (e.g., Navajo, Spanish, etc.).
