Position Summary:

The Los Rios Community College District is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for possible temporary part-time faculty teaching assignments. These positions are filled on an as needed basis and are on-going recruitment efforts.

Adjunct pools are open continuously and applicants are contacted/hired year-round for assignments based on college needs.

Assignment Responsibilities:

The adjunct faculty member shall be responsible for the following: counseling services and/or teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; maintaining thorough and up-to-date knowledge in his/her regular teaching field; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position. The Librarian Special Collections Adjunct Assistant Professor’s duties may include:

  • Assisting students, faculty, staff, and outside researchers in accessing the collections;
  • Processing new archival acquisitions, including determining if items meet criteria under the collection development policy for inclusion in the collection
  • Planning and overseeing digitization projects
  • Engaging with diverse college-level programs to promote use of the collections
  • Raising visibility of the collections on various platforms including the college website, marketing materials, and the library discovery platform.
  • Creating finding aids, catalog records, and other access tools using appropriate metadata standards
  • Ensuring that visitors observe policies and practices pertinent to Special Collections.
  • Recommending changes to existing policies and practices in order to further goals such as preservation, access, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Have a master’s degree from an accredited institution in library science, library and information science; OR hold a California Community College Instructor’s Credential in the discipline area; OR the equivalent.*
  2. Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
