DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision of a registered nurse (RN) in the assigned department, performs a wide variety of patient care activities in support of clinic activity. This includes prioritizing and assisting in patient triage processing, preparation and assistance with patient examinations, administering medications, drawing blood, collecting and preparing laboratory tests, patient education, venipuncture, and IV access. Position requires initiative, ability to prioritize critical demands, and the ability to work in a team environment. Assigned to the most difficult cases requiring independent judgment. Assists in training Vocational Nurses and per diem Vocational Nurses. Performs other related Sr LVN duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license issued by the state of California.

  • Certification in Intravenous Therapy (LVN IV) issued by the state of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Two (2) years experience as a vocational nurse in a similar role and setting.

  • Previous LVN experience in direct patient care.

  • Proven skills in accurately taking and recording vital signs, height and weight; administering medication including injections; interviewing patients; and collecting and/or testing specimens.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • ACLS and/or ART
  • Three to five (3 - 5) years of experience as an LVN with one (1) year of ambulatory or radiology LVN experience
  • Knowledge of PCIS, IDX, and Epic computer systems.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime, as necessary.
  • Must be able to work various locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
