Job DescriptionSeeking qualified adjunct instructors to teach introductory physics courses during the summer 2022 semester (Jun 6 to Jul 29, 2022). Courses are General Physics I and II (algebra-based), and Physics for Scientists and Engineers I and II (calculus-based), which cover primarily electricity and magnetism. Duties include preparing and delivering lectures, grading and course administration. We are accepting applications for either in-person or on-line instruction.
Minimum QualificationsMS in Physics, Astronomy, science education, or a closely related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours completed in physics content; or a high-school instructor with UMKC HSCP (High-school College Program) dual-credit instruction experience.
Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of how to engage intellectually with students using best practices in student-centered teaching to help STEM-minded students with varying levels of preparation develop a growth mindset and succeed academically.
Full Time/Part TimePart-Time, unranked, non-tenure track
Salary$4,000 per 3-hour algebra-based course*
$5,000 per 4-hour calculus-based course*
*(there may be additional compensation for accompanying lab section instruction if needed)
