Departmental Overview

Facilities Services (FS) is responsible for the maintenance of the campus buildings that total approximately 9.2 million square feet of state funded space plus approximately 4 million square feet auxiliary services space. To maintain a campus that is conducive to excellence in learning, research and public safety FS staff provides a full range of services, including custodial and grounds support, building maintenance, pest management, recycling and refuse collection, security, access control both physical and electronic, and management of utility infrastructure. FS also manages the purchase and operation of energy resources and provides specialized engineering and technical services. Additionally, FS has a support service group which consists of Accounting, Customer Care, Fleet Services, Procurement - Contracts and Storehouse, and the Customer Service Center.

Responsibilities
  • Supervises the work of Lock and key, Access Control, Security alarm staff with responsibility for quality and quantity of work.
  • Oversees and ensures all campus standards, policies, procedures are met, both pre and post project documentation relating to each area of responsibility meet the contract requirements and are properly turned over to the appropriate entity, including but not limited to warranties, record drawings, functionality of all systems, and operations and maintenance manuals.
  • Manage and maintain systems and program documentation, for each area of responsibility, related to plans, procedures and protocols including lock and key, access controls and security.
  • Participates in the development and monitoring of policies and procedures for departmental operations relating to Lock and key, Access Control, and Security alarms.
  • Recommends hiring of new employees, transfers, promotions, salary actions, terminations, performance management and budget recommendations for all lock and key, access control, and security alarm units.
  • Participates in the creation, maintenance and reporting of operational and budget processes, academic and / or staff FTE, finance, human resources and space planning.

Required Qualifications
  • Solid knowledge of or ability to quickly learn common organization-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Solid interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising, and counseling to effectively motivate others.
  • Solid skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify resolutions.
  • Solid organizational and customer service skills to effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated skills in technical knowledge of lock and key systems, access control, and security alarms relating to related to buildings and construction, design, contract administration, and familiarity with California building codes.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and assess risk associated with facility safety and security as it relates to the overall Campus community for lock and key, access control, and security alarms.

Education/Training:
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Solid knowledge of o abiliy to quickly learn the organization's processes, protocols and procedures with a focus on budget, account and fund management and / or personnel management within labor contract(s) and personnel policy.
  • Solid knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques; human resources and risk management planning; accounting and payroll.
  • Demonstrated skills in employee supervision and HR administration.

Salary & Benefits

This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience within the range of $77,300.00 - $113,600.00
