Position Summary:

This postdoctoral position is in the Bowser lab, a member lab of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of North Carolina School of Medicine. The Bowser Lab is committed to uncovering the molecular pathogenesis of women’s cancers and defining innovative approaches for regenerative medicine. Our studies concentrate on highly regenerative (endometrial and intestinal) tissues, chemically induced models of inflammation and cancer, and span across cell culture systems, genetically engineered mouse models, and human tissues. The goal is to apply this knowledge to advance the clinical management of inflammatory diseases and cancer.

This position will lead an evolving project investigating genomic stability and DNA damage tolerance in regeneration and cancer. The postdoc will drive experiments in the lab and work closely with our collaborators to execute multidisciplinary, multidimensional experiments using mass spectrometry metabolomics, CRISPR library screens, proteomics, and computational biology. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential; the postdoc joining our team must be capable of independent project management. We utilize a variety of state-of-the art cores inside and outside UNC that will provide further exposure and training in areas of biochemistry, advance microscopy, and RNA/DNA sequencing platforms. The Bowser lab is affiliated with UNC School of Medicine and UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, and is directly involved in multi-center, interdisciplinary translational science work. Opportunities for translational science training are available and ideal for future careers in industry.
