Job Description:

The Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases is seeking a dynamic leader with a passion for building a unique program as their inaugural Executive Director. Affiliated with UF Health, the Institute is home to scientists and clinicians that work on neurological disorders by conducting research and leading-edge treatments that are transforming patient care. With almost $69,000,000 in NIH funding, over 22,000 annual patient visits, and numerous prestigious faculty, this is an incredible opportunity to bring leadership, vision, and branding to the Norman Fixel Institute as they position themselves to become a household name in their fields of expertise.

Reporting to the Director, Dr. Michael Okun, the Executive Director will be in charge of setting a strategic vision for strengthening the Institute’s relationship with external and internal audiences through comprehensive engagement, stewardship, special events, and other programs. The Executive Director will also oversee strategic components of donor and alumni engagement throughout the lifecycle of a gift and determine the best strategies to provide an exceptional experience for donors, prospects, and alumni.

The Norman Fixel Institute is looking for a proven, passionate leader to provide direction and vision for its continued growth and success due to their groundbreaking research and their focus on patient care. This leader will play an integral role in delivering on the Institute’s mission to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those people with complex neurological disorders through interdisciplinary care, research, and teaching.

Expected Salary:

Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and eight years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • The ideal qualifications are to be a MBA, MD, and/or PhD administrative leader with department or executive experience preferably within an academic medical center and/or a major research institution.
  • Have had positive, sustained impact in complex environments where collaboration and influence management were critical to success.
  • Have extensive experience and knowledge in strategic resource analysis and financial/budget management. Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model.
  • Be an effective communicator, with strong oral and written skills.
  • Have a proven ability to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external leaders and organizations.
  • Have a highly collaborative management style.
