The Department of Physical Therapy in the College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP) at the University of Florida invites qualified individuals to apply for a senior faculty position. This is a 12- month, full-time (1.0 FTE) tenure track faculty position for a dynamic individual who thrives in a collaborative environment, and interacts effectively with multi-disciplinary faculty, staff, clinicians and trainees. The applicant should have a proven track record in research, including an extramural funding history and strong publication record, as well as a strong history of junior faculty mentorship.

The successful candidate will also provide strategic leadership and vision to the Brooks-PHHP Collaboration. The Brooks-PHHP partnership serves as a contemporary model for interdisciplinary research between an academic center and a rehabilitation centric healthcare system. Therefore, the applicant is expected to have a clinical background and interact effectively with faculty and clinicians from multiple disciplines, staff, and trainees. The director will be the key representative for the collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

UF Department of Physical Therapy: The academic environment at UF is exceptional, with rigorous academic programs, state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, and a large offering of clinical and research seminars and conferences. Department of Physical Therapy faculty are strongly committed to excellence in both research and teaching, and have received numerous national teaching and research awards. The Department offers two educational programs: an entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program and training in Rehabilitation Sciences (PhD). The UF Department of Physical Therapy is a national leader in rehabilitation research, with annual extramural funding around $10M per year, including investigator-initiated NIH grants and both pre- and post-doctoral NIH training grants. Faculty in the Department have established collaborations with multiple UF research centers, including the William and Evelyn McKnight Brain Institute, the VA Brain Rehabilitation Research Center, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute, Myology Institute, the Center for Movement Disorders and Neurorestoration, the Breathing Research and Therapeutics Center, and the Center for Translational Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases. The Department is aligned with UF Health Shands Hospital and has a strong research partnership with Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital in Jacksonville.

Brooks Rehabilitation: Brooks Rehabilitation, based in Jacksonville Florida, is one of the largest independent and not-for-profit rehabilitation-centric providers of post-acute services in the country. The inpatient hospital at the University campus houses 160 beds with over 3,100 admissions annually and was recently named by US News and World Report as one of the top 50 rehabilitation facilities in the country. The Brooks system of care also includes a network of 43 outpatient therapy centers serving approximately 40,000 patients per year, and the region’s largest home health agency. Community programs and services are provided, such as the Brooks Neurorehabilitation Day Treatment - specialty outpatient program to help patients with acquired brain injuries transition from an inpatient setting to their home, the Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Day Program provides an intensive therapy program to SCI patients who have transitioned back to the community, the Brooks Aphasia Center provides intensive specialty speech services to patient with aphasia, the Brooks Clubhouse - a full­ time day program provides for the long-term recovery needs of individuals who have suffered from an acquired neurological injury. In addition, the NeuroRecovery Center is a state-of-the-art rehabilitation center featuring advanced equipment and technology to benefit individuals with neurological injuries or illnesses. Finally, the Adaptive Sports and Recreation Program provides a comprehensive array of activities to empower patients with disabilities to re-engage in sports and recreational activities. It is the only post-acute care system in northeast Florida that offers such a comprehensive array of equipment and services.

Brooks Rehabilitation Clinical Research Center: The Brooks Rehabilitation Clinical Research Center (BRCRC) is located in Jacksonville, Florida and features a 4,000 sq. ft. clinical research space that includes motion capture capabilities as well as private rooms for assessments and interventions. As part of the Brooks Rehabilitation system of care, the BRCRC provides access to a large patient population across the entire post-acute continuum of care. The experienced research personnel at the BRCRC includes administrators, study coordinators, research assistants, recruitment specialists, and study clinicians who support over 30 studies on an annual basis.
