Senior Research Project Director

Position Summary

The Senior Project Director will be primarily responsible for designing, acquiring funding for, and implementing multiple programs of the Environmental Finance Center (EFC) in the area of Rate Setting and Computer Modeling Programs. The Senior Project Director will work in conjunction with Project Analysts, Associate Director and other EFC staff to ensure completion of projects. The EFC is dedicated to enhancing the ability of governments to provide environmental programs and services in fair, effective and financially sustainable ways. The EFC (www.efc.unc.edu) is a contract funded center within the School of Government. The Center assists local communities; provides training and policy analysis services; and disseminates tools and resources on topics such as environmental cost accounting, rate setting, and the development of sustainable cost recovery and institutional management systems. The EFC works throughout the country, but with a focus on North Carolina, Georgia and other Southeastern states. This position will report to EFC Director. Position Funding: This position is contingent upon the continuing availability to the School of Government of funds from sources other than continuing state budget funds or permanent trust funds.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity or comparable background in independent academic or instructional activities, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. This experience may be related to the direction/oversight of programs that focus the academic and research resources of a higher education institution towards community or regional issues.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience   

Three years of experience working with local and state governments on environmental finance topics.
