The College of Visual and Performing Arts at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth is seeking a Full Time Lecturer in Animation and Game Arts to teach in our NASAD accredited BFA and MFA art and design programs starting September 2022.

The faculty member appointed to this position will teach courses in 3-D modeling and animation, senior animation studio, and digital media foundations. We are seeking a faculty member whose primary research interest falls in the area of 3-D animation. The candidate will teach undergraduate courses, work on an individual basis with graduate students, conduct a program of creative and/or scholarly work, contribute to curriculum development and other aspects of the intellectual life of the department, serve as the advisor for undergraduate students, provide appropriate professional service, and perform other duties as assigned. A typical teaching load for studio full time lecturers is six courses per year.

Minimum qualifications: MFA or terminal degree in the field or a related field (e.g., Animation, Interactive Media, Technical Art, Visual Effects, PhD in Engineering), or extensive 3D animation experience in the profession (4+ years of professional experience in the game or film industry, shipped titles preferred); a minimum of two years teaching experience; documented success in student learning with emphasis in three-dimensional computer modeling and animation; strong organizational skills; a record of scholarship and professional activity in 3D animation.

Preferred qualifications: Documented success in student learning in storyboarding, storytelling, game art pro, and/or fundamental and advanced digital media production; VFX experience; ability to counsel students on careers and opportunities in the fields of animation and games, entertainment, education; experience with service learning and/or community outreach.
