Job Description:


The Assistant Database Administrator and Enterprise Manager is responsible for supporting the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, development, testing and training, for the enterprise applications at Roxbury Community College. The Assistant DBA and Enterprise Manager serves as project leader and provides support and leadership through implementation and ongoing support through maintenance and troubleshooting of the enterprise applications.


Supervision Received: Reports to the RCC Chief Information Officer and Director of Enterprise Systems.


Supervision Exercised: Supervises professional and student personnel.



  • Lead efforts of RCC IT to gather business requirements to ascertain needs as it pertains to core business processes, workflows and system usage.
  • Collaborate with technical and business staff to design solutions to streamline and/or increase the effectiveness of business processes.
  • Provide programming support to develop new reports, inquiries, screens or other system customizations. Write programming scripts to enhance functionality and/or performance of applications in use by the College.
  • Document key business processes, data flows, work flows and system architectures.
  • Support system testing activities by reviewing test scenarios, clarifying product requirements and supporting test execution activities.
  • Lead the implementation of new systems, system enhancements, upgrades and fixes.
  • Provide project management support for projects including creating project plans, scheduling review meetings and tracking progress of the project.
  • Provide technical support to staff members in regards to the operation of enterprise systems.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with software application vendors.
  • Plan and coordinate staff training for College enterprise systems, developing instructional materials, training and job aids.
  • With support from the CIO and others, take leadership in the development of Enterprise Systems policies and procedures.
  • Maintain industry knowledge of new technologies, trends and relevant innovations to make recommendations for change to continually improve the enterprise applications.
  • Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the RCC mission, vision and values and adhering to all College policies.
  • Acknowledge and understand that the nature of the work may occasionally require availability during evenings, nights and weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned by the CIO.


Requirements:


Qualifications and Requirements:



  • Bachelor degree in information systems, business administration, finance, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of, and adherence to, a System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodology.
  • Experience with Office 365.
  • Experience working with database systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise interfacing with business stakeholders, with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong project management skills and organizational ability.
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and creative thinking abilities.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Business Analysis or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in one or more structured computer programming languages.
  • Experience in web application development.
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
  • Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs and concerns of students, faculty and staff.
