Job Summary/Basic Function:

This is a graduate/doctoral-level adjunct position within the Helms School of Government online. Responsibilities include teaching one or more of the following graduate/doctoral-level courses on China:

  • China’s Political Worldview
  • Chinese Politics
  • The Political Economy of China
  • Chinese Foreign Policy
  • Chinese and Western Strategic Thought
  • Chinese Grand Strategy
Candidates should specify which of the above courses they are qualified to teach. Responsibilities also include but are not limited to providing detailed feedback on masters/doctoral student assignments, mentoring/challenging masters/doctoral students to grow intellectually and spiritually, maintaining contact with students to advise on matters related to academic achievement, and maintaining/reporting grades and attendance in accordance with university polices.

Minimum Qualifications:

EducationPh.D., Doctor (other than Juris Doctor), or similar terminal degree from an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in:

  • Political Science
  • International Relations
  • Asian or Chinese Studies
  • Security Studies
  • National Security
  • Statecraft
  • Economics/Political Economy
  • History

Other Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated research interest and expertise in Chinese Ideology, Chinese Politics, Chinese Political Economy, and/or Chinese National Security
  • Demonstrated strengths in teaching
  • Strong organizational skills that facilitate assignment/task anticipation and completion.
  • Superior interpersonal and presentation skills required.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office suite and online learning management systems (Canvas)
