Job Details:

Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the following position: Sports Turf Mechanic, Temporary position in Sports Turf & Golf Course Operations. This position is responsible for all equipment maintenance, repairs, and services of all golf course and athletic field equipment.

Duties will include, but not be limited to: coordinate and schedule all equipment for repairs and/or maintenance; inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical defects in golf course maintenance and construction equipment; grind, backlap, set and adjust mowers heights; service automotive and other powered equipment including engines, brakes, transmissions, differentials, springs, and mufflers; secure and replace tools and parts; responsible for oil and gasoline inventories and fuel facility; make sure orders are received, correct, and accounted for; maintain shop in orderly condition, cleaning working areas after repairs are completed; promptly report all safety and maintenance issues; must be able to read and follow instructions, directions, and safety procedures; perform other duties as requested by supervisor.

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent (GED), two years’ experience in general maintenance of equipment engines including diesel and gasoline, and have a valid driver’s license.

A successful candidate will also possess the ability to: work additional hours as required; work in inclement weather; read and follow instructions, directions, and safety procedures; work alone and in a team environment. Additionally, a successful candidate should possess good verbal and written communication skills and working environment is labor intensive, such as, lifting up to 50lbs, bending, digging, and walking for long periods of time.
