Assistant Professor of Instructional Technology

The College of Education and Social Sciences at Coastal Carolina University invites applications for a tenure-track, full time (9-month) position as Assistant Professor of Instructional Technology, beginning August 16, 2022. Responsibilities include teaching instructional technology and computer science education graduate and undergraduate courses in traditional, hybrid, and online learning formats, advising students, maintaining an active research agenda, and engaging in relevant service to the college, university, and local schools.

The ideal candidate will be an outstanding teacher-scholar with experience teaching instructional technology and computer science education courses to both pre-service and in-service educators. A key responsibility of this position will be to lead the unit in developing and directing complementary degree and certificate computer science education programs, with emphasis on the development of new computer science education courses that meet emerging job trends and establish continuity with our successful graduate programs. The ideal candidate will also have prior experience serving on doctoral committees, success obtaining external funding for instructional technology/computer science education research initiatives, and experience collaborating on instructional technology/computer science education initiatives with corporate/private partners. The ideal candidate will also be expected to collaborate with colleagues to advance scholarly projects serving local and national needs.

Required Qualifications:

Earned doctorate in instructional/educational technology, instructional design, or similar field emphasizing the integration of technology to improve teaching, learning, and professional practice in education. Current or prior K-12 teaching licensure. Experience designing, developing, and implementing instructional technology courses for pre-service and in-service educators. Experience designing, developing, and implementing computer science education courses at the graduate level aligned with state requirements. Experience growing and managing a computer science education program at the undergraduate or graduate level. Experience serving on dissertation/thesis committees.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching and advising doctoral and post-masters students Experience teaching instructional technologies at the graduate level Experience training pre-service and in-service teachers in block-based coding, professional-level programming languages, and robotics Successful acquisition of external funding for instructional technology/computer science education scholarly initiatives.
