Position Summary::

The Department of Human Development and Family Studies, College of Human Environmental Science at The University of Alabama, seeks applicants with specialization in child development for an Assistant Professor tenure-track appointment. Sought are applicants with a promising record of research and with the qualifications to teach courses in child development that will contribute to one or more of our graduate and undergraduate programs in Child Life, Early Childhood Education, or Human Development and Family Studies. Likewise, the person will contribute to the diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives of the department, college, and university.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a robust scholarly research program with external support; teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses; advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students; and engage in professional service at the campus, community, state, and/or national level.

Preferred qualifications include: 1. A doctorate in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Human Development and Family Studies, Psychology, or an equivalent field; 2. Evidence of scholarly work, including a strong research record, professional publications/presentations and/or participation in grant submissions or success at grant funding; 3. Strong interpersonal skills, including effective oral and written communication skills; 4. Teaching experience in higher education.
