Stanford University is seeking a System Administrator for the School of Medicine's 3D and Quantitative Imaging Laboratory to manage, configure, optimize, and maintain integrity of the complex environment of imaging systems and equipment. The System Administrator will work with management, technologists, and others to ensure optimized operations and business continuity.

Duties include:
  • Install or facilitate the install of new servers and virtual machines.
  • Procure and set up new computers and equipment as needed.
  • Routinely configure, analyze, optimize, and update systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Design and implement or facilitate the implementation of redundancy for mission-critical systems.
  • Leveraging complete knowledge of all systems to provide 24x7 support, ensuring that technical issues do not impede business continuity.
  • Routinely evaluate systems to ensure that they meet Stanford's Minimum Security standards, including but not limited to reviewing vulnerability scans, Splunk logs, and user access.
  • Plan downtime and establish workarounds to minimize impact on business continuity.
  • Manage and support Citrix XenDesktop environments, updating, optimizing, and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Provide feedback to management about potential upgrades and optimizations for systems and equipment.
  • Properly dispose of any e-waste generated by upgrades, repairs, and refresh cycles.
  • Document information on all systems, including vendor contracts, system specifications, refresh cycle, and access.
  • Identify and implement or facilitate needed user training.
  • Maintain and nurture vendor and interdepartmental relationships.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
  • Experience with multiple types of operating systems or expert knowledge in one.
  • Experience with managing an integrated computing environment.
  • Extensive experience in multiple programming languages for system development.
  • Experience with networked environments.
  • Experience with network storage solutions.
  • Experience with configuring and maintaining routers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of security protocols.
  • Ability to manage shared resources and perform moderately complex tasks.
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to train to others in applications and operating system fundamentals.
  • Experience with middleware and infrastructure.
  • Experience with Citrix Virtualization software (XenDesktop)
  • Experience with Windows server 2008-2016
  • Experience with Windows 10 and Mac OS


CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:
  • Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) or willingness to obtain certification after hire
  • Citrix Virtualization certification (CCE-V, CCP-V, or CCA-V) or willingness to obtain certification after hire
  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Server+ desired, but not required
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate: Window Server 2016 desired, but not required


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
  • Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.
  • Frequently sitting.
  • Occasionally stand/walk, twist/bend/stoop/squat, reach/work above shoulders, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 21>40 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Exposed to high voltage electricity, noise >80dB TWA, confined spaces, hot temperatures, heavy metals.
