Nature of Work:

The CU College of Nursing has an opening for a full-time (1.0 FTE) position as a Behavioral Health Program Director  / Instructor / Senior Instructor / Assistant Professor (Open Rank) in the Non-Tenure Clinical Practice Track within its federally qualified community health center, Sheridan Health Services (SHS), located in southwest Denver, CO (zip code: 80236).  This position is clinic based and includes dedicated effort (20%) for administrative duties.  Faculty rank is based on experience and qualifications.  We are offering a recruitment incentive for the finalist hired in addition to the base salary listed below.

Nature of Work:

The CU College of Nursing is seeking a Behavioral Health Program Director for a full-time (1.00 FTE), benefits eligible position at Sheridan Health Services, a Federally Qualified Health Center located in southwest Denver, CO (zip code: 80236). The Behavioral Health Program Director is part of the SHS senior management group and will uphold the SHS mission by assuring the delivery of high-quality integrated care services and the fiscal soundness of the organization by meeting productivity standards. This position serves in an advisory capacity making recommendations about primary care and behavioral health integration to improve service delivery and achieve improved health outcomes.

The position is responsible for the administrative and clinical management of behavioral health (BH), mental health and substance use services provided at the Family Health Clinic and Youth Health Clinic.

Clinic Description:

Sheridan Health Services is a multi-site, nurse-managed federally qualified community health center, funded through the Health Resources and Services Administration Bureau of Primary Healthcare; and is a collaborative effort between the College of Nursing and the Sheridan School District. There are now 52 employees at two convenient locations to serve community health needs primarily for residents of Arapahoe, Denver and Jefferson counties.  A Youth Health Clinic is located in the Sheridan School District Administration building. The Family Health Clinic is located in southwest Denver on the Fort Logan campus and provides services to adults and children, 65% of whom identify at Latinx, and 42% of whom are best served in another language, with Spanish being the predominant second language.  Services offered include primary care across the lifespan; prenatal and postpartum, gynecology, dentistry, pharmacy, behavioral health, and outpatient substance abuse treatment.  Sheridan Health Services is a Patient-Centered Medical Home, and as such, we uphold a model of care that places the patient at the center, incorporating the values and beliefs of the patient in all decision-making. Work is performed independently under the general direction and supervision of the SHS Executive Director.

Provides direct supervision to Behavioral Health Leads, Providers, Assistants, and Trainees

Program Management

Core responsibilities of the Behavioral Health Program Director include programmatic oversight for creation, implementation and management of clinical programs within BH service line, oversite of fiscal expenditures, and supervision of BH providers.   This position will ensure behavioral health programs operate within budgeted revenues and achieve productivity goals. This position shall be vigilant of potential new revenue streams and respond to these as appropriate (e.g., grants, contracts, managed care contracts, governmental relations, etc.). 

Clinical Care

The Behavioral Health Program Director will provide a portion of total effort (80%) in direct patient care to patients from diverse backgrounds.

Maintains Electronic Health Record documentation in compliance with accepted standards, in keeping with the Policies & Procedures of the clinic. Must meet rigorous standards for documentation, and complete notes, referrals and follow-ups in a timely manner. Compliance

The Behavioral Health Program Director will be responsible for audit and compliance activities to ensure that behavioral health services and standards follow all state, federal, and CU regulations, in addition to contractual requirements associated with payers and funders, in collaboration with leadership team. 

This position will ensure compliance with third party reimbursement and client fee collections. Performs other duties as assigned.Maintains all necessary licenses, certifications, credentialing materials and other required documents as outlined by the Office of Clinical and Community Affairs at the College of Nursing.Community Engagement

The Behavioral Health Program Director will participate in community outreach for the purpose of increasing access to care, reducing barriers to treatment, and advancing the mission and vision of SHS.  The Behavioral Health Program Director will be responsible for establishing and maintaining community partnerships.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at:

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Psychologist

$60,000 - $65,000 annually at Instructor of Clinical Practice/LCSW, LPC, Psychologist

$65,000 - $70,000 annually at Sr. Instructor of Clinical Practice/LCSW, LPC, Psychologist

$70,000 - $75,000 annually at Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice/LCSW, LPC, Psychologist

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

$85,000 - $93,000 annually at Instructor of Clinical Practice/PMHNP

$88,000 - $96,000 at Sr. Instructor of Clinical Practice /PMHNP

$90,000 - $105,000 at Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice/PMHNP

In addition to the annual salary for this position, an annual administrative stipend will also be offered.  

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

• Must be willing and able to work in a normal patient care environment with some exposure to biological hazards and infectious diseases.
• Must be willing and able to work until 7pm on designated weeknights in rotation with other providers for Extended Hours (currently Wednesday evenings).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a primary care or school-based health center setting using a brief model of service delivery
• Experience utilizing bilingual skills (Spanish/English) at a conversation level in a clinical setting
• Credentialed as a certified addiction specialist (CAS) or licensed addiction counselor (LAC)
• Experience as a preceptor/supervisor of behavioral health trainees/interns
• Experience in providing clinical services using behavioral health treatment modalities to treat chronic diseases
