Nature of Work

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus seeks a full time Instructor or Assistant Professor to work in the Department of Psychiatry, Behavioral Health and Wellness Program (BHWP). BHWP is a multi-disciplinary program for public policy, research, training, and clinical care. We offer training and technical assistance on health and wellness across the lifespan, tobacco cessation, and Motivational Interviewing. We work with communities, healthcare facilities, and public health and governmental agencies to promote health and wellness in priority populations. We also offer training and consultation to healthcare and public health providers, administrators, and peer advocates. This position will be responsible for both training and evaluation/research. This position will be a primary trainer and technical assistance provider for BHWP’s whole health, tobacco cessation, and Motivational Interviewing programming. Training and technical assistance will be provided virtually or in-person either locally or nationally. This position will assist in developing new evidence-based curricula and community technical assistance resources as needed. They will be a core member of the research and evaluation team assisting in developing and implementing evaluation and research plans for national, state, and locally funded projects, both within BHWP (i.e., internal evaluation and research projects) as well as for partner agencies conducting community-based programming (i.e., external evaluation and research projects). Additionally, the position will assist in other research activities such as conceptualizing and developing grant proposals, preparing documents and proposals for CO Institutional Review Board (COMIRB), managing projects, evaluating new wellness curricula, conducting literature searches and reviews, writing and editing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed outlets along with other products and resources, preparing presentations and webinars, and developing research surveys, questionnaires, and assessments. This position will also assist in collecting, managing, analyzing, and reporting data.

Professional Field

Supervision Received

This position reports to the BHWP Director (Chad Morris, PhD) as well as the BHWP Clinical and Research and Evaluation Directors.

Supervision Exercised

This position will have limited supervisory responsibilities. The position may include mentoring and training graduate students, medical students, and postdoctoral fellows, etc.

    Salary Offered or Salary Range

    PhD and/or PsyD

    The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at:

    Instructor: $95,000 to $105,000.

    Senior Instructor: $95,000 to $105,000.

    Assistant Professor: $95,000 to $105,000.

    Associate Professor: $113,000 to $130,000.

    Professor: $162,000 to $200,000.

    The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

    The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

    Minimum Qualifications  

    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

    Instructor:

    • 1-3 years of related research experience at rank or equivalent experience. 
    • Minimum degree qualifications: Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Public Health, or similar field and one year of relevant experience.
    Senior Instructor:

    • 1-3 years of related research experience at rank or equivalent experience. 
    • Minimum degree qualifications: Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Public Health, or similar field and one year of relevant experience.
    Assistant Professor:

    • 1-3 years of related research experience at rank or equivalent experience. 
    • Minimum degree qualifications: Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Public Health, or similar field and one year of relevant experience.
    Associate Professor:

    • 4-7 years of related research experience at rank or equivalent experience. 
    • Minimum degree qualifications: Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Public Health, or similar field and one year of relevant experience.
    Professor:

    • 7+ years of related research experience at rank or equivalent experience. 
    • Minimum degree qualifications: Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Public Health, or similar field and one year of relevant experience.
    Preferred Qualifications

      3 or more years of experience in counseling or coaching in a behavioral health, health or wellness fieldAdvanced skills and training in Motivational Interviewing and Tobacco CessationPrevious experience in training, education, or facilitation of health and behavior changeProficiency in statistical and database software. Record of publications in peer-reviewed academic outlets
