Position Summary

The Department of Educational Administration at Michigan State University invites superintendents/central office administrators to apply for a fixed-term position as an Assistant Professor of Practice. This person will help guide our leadership preparation programs, teach courses, facilitate internships, and serve as liaisons with Michigan educators. The position will be full-time and renewable annually.

The Department of Educational Administration at Michigan State University (MSU) invites experienced superintendents/central office administrators to apply for a fixed-term position as an Assistant Professor of Practice in K-12 Educational Administration. Professors of Practice are fully contributing members of our faculty who draw on their strong leadership experience in K-12 schools and systems to help guide our leadership preparation programs, teach practice-oriented courses, facilitate leadership internships, and serve as instrumental liaisons between MSU and Michigan educators. The position will be full-time and renewable annually depending upon performance.

To be considered for this position, candidates must have an earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in educational administration, leadership, or a related field, have a strong, demonstrated commitment to social justice and equity, and be prepared to assume the responsibilities in this call. Required Degree

Doctorate -Doctorate in educational administration

Minimum Requirements

Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in educational administration, leadership, or a related field, have a strong, demonstrated commitment to social justice and equity.

Desired Qualifications

We prefer candidates who have:

  • building-level and central office administrator experience, particularly having served as both a principal and as a superintendent/central office administrator.
  • experience teaching in online and hybrid learning environments.
  • experience teaching courses in one or more of the following areas: the principalship, human resources, school finance, school organizations, the principal internship, and the central office internship.

And candidates who will:

  • contribute to our program’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and social justice in all aspects of practice.
  • collaborate as full partners with faculty in creating and delivering innovative master’s and doctoral programs.
  • advise students in our principal and central office preparation programs and advise groups of Ed.D. students working on dissertations-in-practice.
  • take leadership in recruiting students to our master’s and doctoral programs and contribute to outreach efforts with schools and school leaders in Michigan.
  • engage with schools serving historically underserved communities in Michigan, particularly in urban centers and rural areas
