Posting Summary:

Based in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, provide leadership for developing and delivering programs designed to support youth health and wellbeing, including but not limited to fostering social-emotional skills and other protective factors, through UVM Extensions’ 4-H Program. 4-H is the nation’s positive youth development program that builds skills needed in life and career, through fun, hands-on experiences, delivered in partnership with caring adults. Responsibilities include program development, coordination, teaching, grant writing and evaluation of health and well-being initiatives, such as the evidence-based PROSPER partnership model and community sites. This will include supervising and collaborating with volunteers and staff, strategic thinking, conducting needs assessments, resource development, training, and stimulating excellence in carrying out the overall 4-H mission. This is done with minimal supervision, individually and also in collaboration with a statewide team of 4-H educators and one program director.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):

Master’s degree and three years’ related experience or equivalent combination, with focus in prevention, counseling, social work, trauma informed practice or health programming required, emphasis on youth programming desired. Competency in youth, volunteer and program development. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, teach and evaluate educational programs. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with youth and adult volunteers, in a team environment. Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate clear goals. Computer and electronic communication proficiency. Ability to provide leadership in a collaborative environment and be consistently supportive of decisions made by University of Vermont Extension. Requires ability to adopt a flexible schedule, which will include evenings, weekends, and willingness to travel, primarily within the state. Ability to work independently. An ability to interpret research findings and communicate these with youth and volunteer audiences or with faculty working with subject area curriculum/program teams and advisory groups.

Desirable Qualifications:

Spanish language proficiency desirable .

Position located in either St. Johnsbury or Morrisville Extension Offices.
6 month required probationary period.
Requires ability to adopt a flexible schedule, which will include evenings, weekends, and the ability to travel, primarily within the state. Ability to work independently.
Will need to secure additional funds to sustain position beyond 09/30/2024.
Possibility of 1.00 FTE upon award of additional grant funding.
