Clinical Assistant Professor of Management Communication Position for July 2022

 

Simon Business School at the University of Rochester invites applications for full-time faculty teaching professional communication in its MBA and MS Programs, effective July 1, 2022. A national leader in analytics-based business education known for deep expertise and academic rigor, the Simon School is also committed to preparing its graduates for career success as excellent communicators. 

Simon Communication faculty work in a team environment, collaborating on delivery of the school’s core communication courses for MBA and MS programs and partnering with colleagues throughout Simon on field-based assignments and practicums. Additionally, Communication faculty participate in developing Simon’s undergraduate curriculum and introducing graduate electives in their areas of expertise. The Simon School also encourages and provides support for interdisciplinary research agendas in areas of communication studies related to organizational, business, digital media and /or health communication. Appointments are renewable, multi-year term appointments in the Clinical Faculty track, with ranks of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, and Clinical Professor.  Rank is based on experience and credentials.

Candidates must have a Masters degree or a Ph.D. (preferred) in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Law or a related field, and experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate business students. Applicants with experience in corporate communication or training are welcome. We particularly encourage applicants eager to help us advance the School’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and programs. Proficiency with international learners, particularly those for whom English is a second language, and/or TESOL Certification is also highly desirable.

Experience requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching presentation skills for individuals and teams
  • Experience in action-based, experiential learning for team and interpersonal skills development 
  • Collaboration skills for partnering with colleagues in cohort-based degree programs

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience teaching data visualization
  • Experience employing online, web-based instructional technologies
  • Experience teaching second language learners
