Job Details

The Assistant Director of Development Data Solutions and Research creates strategies to encourage a data-centered culture and improve information quality, ensuring the College has accurate, complete, and timely data to inform decisions and support engagement and philanthropy success. This position acts as a solutions manager for the Ellucian CRM, with responsibility for the creation of dashboards and queries as well as integration with other systems, such as Banner and Anthology/Imodules. The Assistant Director will manage donor prospect coding and assignment, including cleanup of current outdated data. This member of the division team is a critical player in effectively managing and growing utilization of the CRM as well as offering end user support through training and resources.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Identify inconsistencies and implement procedures to continuously improve data management and stewardship. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of information maintained on people and organizations, donors, and prospects in support of division and College initiatives.
  • Design and maintain data infrastructures, advanced finds, and dashboard views of data to meet the needs of the Development and College Relations team.
  • Serve as technical lead and resource on division CRM projects and to end- users.
  • Provide support in the creation of donor and prospect bios during times of peak activity.
  • Support advancement services’ efforts to research and maintain up-to-date personal and business information on all constituents in the CRM.
  • Engage with gift officers to track donors through the cultivation process. Serve as a subject matter expert on prospect management data.
  • Perform all tasks related to donor prospect creation and prospect reassignment. This includes assigning tiered parent prospects, coding new graduate prospects annually, and updating donor prospect ratings.
  • Identify data to be enhanced, corrected, or established including targeted data cleanup, interdepartmental projects, and other initiatives with campus wide impact.
  • Work with Advancement Services and ITS to integrate and automate data process flows between CRM and other enterprise systems.
  • Develop CRM training and resources. Lead development and maintenance of CRM documentation.
  • Develop, generate, analyze, and format data for operational and ad hoc requests, routine reports and dashboards.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to extract the details from real world processes to establish system information flows and complete data requests.
  • Knowledge of data integration strategies and management systems, practices and standards.
  • A high degree of enthusiasm for solving problems.
  • Organizational, analytical, written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Microsoft Office Suite – high-level expertise in Word and Excel.
  • Experience and knowledge of Google suite, including the ability to share documents and sheets.
  • Skilled in managing multiple priorities, thinking critically, and maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
  • A commitment to maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to optimize partnerships within the Development and College Relations division as well as cross-campus collaborators.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CRM databases such as Ellucian CRM Advance and reporting tools for data retrieval, manipulation, and reports.
  • Experience with reporting and analytics tools and applications.
  • Knowledge of Advancement industry best practices, reporting standards, and business-related needs.
  • Thorough understanding of data quality and databases within a college or related setting.
