Lipscomb University College of Education
The College of Education at Lipscomb University is a highly successful college that educates future teachers and educational leaders at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. The College enjoys a strong reputation in all areas of teacher and administrator preparation having received multiple state and national recognitions as one of the top teacher preparation programs. The College seeks a visionary Dean who will move the College to the next level of effectiveness and accomplishment.
Position: Dean of the College of Education
Reports to: Provost
Description: As a servant leader of outstanding Christian character, the Dean will provide visionary, faith-focused leadership for the College of Education as it prepares men and women to be educators and educational leaders; will bring innovative expertise for the development and execution of academic programming; will oversee all the business and academic affairs of the College of Education; will engage the larger educational community in collaborative relationships; will cultivate a strong donor base and envision and implement successful fundraising efforts for the College; and will promote the College to all constituencies within and beyond the University community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Bring a creative vision to move the College of Education to the next level of excellence
- Provide a relational approach to collaborating with public and independent schools and districts
- Create innovative paths to fundraising, community relations, and constituent development
- Plan, manage, and supervise the academic areas within the College of Education
- Promote and value a diverse population of faculty and students
- Lead faculty in development of relevant academic programming that addresses the evolving expectations and needs of education professionals
- Provide vision for the development of state-of-the-art educational methodologies that reflect pedagogical best practices
- Support and promote faculty scholarship
- Integrate the faculty into the life and mission of the university at large
- Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators within the College and across the University to further a culture of professional growth and collegial relationships
- Monitor quality and continuous improvement
- Maintain national accreditations
- Engage in recruiting efforts and retention practices
- Build and sustain the human resource structure of the College
- Prepare and submit an annual budget to the Provost
- Advocate for the College of Education
- Support the Christian mission of the University and the vision of its leaders
- Demonstrate Christian practice in an intentional, courageous, and gracious manner
Education: Terminal degree in a related field
Experience: A record of excellent teaching and leadership experience is required. Significant academic leadership experience is preferred with a demonstrated history of successful innovative and creative leadership initiatives. An understanding of educational best practices and current educational policies, issues and challenges are necessary. Successful experience in a public or independent school district is preferred.

Availability: August 1, 2022
Salary: Negotiable based on experience
