The School of Behavioral and Social Sciences invites applications for a Non-Tenure Track Instructor of Social Work position (Teaching Specialist), starting September 1, 2022. The position involves teaching courses across the curriculum in the undergraduate Social Work program. Required qualifications are an MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program, 2 years post MSW practice experience, and teaching experience at the college-level in social work or related field. Preferred qualifications are a Ph.D. in Social Work or a DSW, experience with diverse populations in an academic setting, and teaching experience in social work courses.

  • Candidate should be able to teach courses in the following areas: social work practice, research methods, introduction to social work, human behavior in the social environment, the history of social policy, and race, ethnicity, and diversity
  • Expectation of a teaching load of four classes per semester and teaching in the evenings
  • Significant practice experience, excellent teaching and community service are expected
  • Additional responsibilities include: accreditation activities, curriculum development, overseeing field practicum classes, and student advisement as negotiated under the collective bargaining agreement
  • Faculty members are expected to contribute to the General Studies curriculum
