Job Description:


Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)


Salary: $51,000-$60,000


The Research Compliance Coordinator supports the Assistant Vice President for Research Compliance and the Office of Research Compliance. This role assists in the coordination of office activities including managing several projects simultaneously in an efficient and timely manner. Establishes and maintains the appointment schedule and calendar of activities for the Assistant Vice President for Research Compliance.


Additional duties include:


  • Assists with coordination of office activities including but not limited to the scheduling of meetings, trainings, and workshops and related arrangements for the Office of Research Compliance (including room reservations, refreshments audio/visual equipment set up, guest parking, and invitations
  • Oversees documentation management in compliance with institutional, state, federal and accrediting agency guidelines
  • Assists in the management and tracking of Export Control documentation
  • Assists in the management, tracking, and initial reviews of Conflict of Interest (COI) annual certifications
  • Verify/track required trainings required
  • Maintains the Research Compliance website
  • Maintains office and committee policies and SOPS ensuring they are up to date and in compliance with institutional, state, federal and accrediting agency guidelines
  • Assists in the oversight of the office operational budget including preparing, monitoring, reconciliations, and projections
  • Manages the orchestration of protocol review processes from acceptance through approval for multiple research compliance committees including Biosafety, Stem Cell, and Radiation Safety
  • Reviews research compliance protocols for correlative activities, completeness, and compliance with applicable guidelines and institutional policies prior to review by applicable committees
  • Attends and takes minutes of Biosafety, Stem Cell, Radiation Safety, and Institutional Conflict of Interest committee meetings, transcribing minutes that accurately reflect discussions and determinations
  • Serves as the lead contact for the online platform for research compliance management
  • Assists in the development and implementation of outreach and training activities for the office and the functions, therein including materials preparation, scheduling, and evaluation


Requirements:


  • Three (3) to five (5) years of relative work experience and Bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Management and prioritization of multiple tasks simultaneously, problem solve, maintain confidentiality, and work effectively as a team member
  • Ability to apply independent ethically sound judgment, discretion and initiative in performing administrative functions
  • General knowledge of office procedures and practices, including but not limited to skills in using the Microsoft Office Suite of software, Google, presentation programs, and online meeting platforms

Preferred:


  • Working knowledge of regulations related to research compliance as applied in a university setting
  • Experience in conducting trainings to students, faculty, and administration
  • Exhibit calm, professional, and service oriented disposition with managers, co-workers, faculty, administrators, students, and other internal or external contacts
  • Experience in online systems administrative management
  • Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community
  • Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures

History

Binghamton University opened its doors as Triple Cities College in 1946, to serve the needs of local veterans returning from service in World War II. Originally located in Endicott, N.Y., five miles west of the present campus, the fledgling school was a branch of Syracuse University.

Four years later, the college was incorporated into the State University of New York (SUNY) and renamed Harpur College in honor of Robert Harpur, a Colonial teacher, patriot and pioneer who helped settle the area west of Binghamton.

In 1961, the campus moved across the Susquehanna River to Vestal. Growing enrollment and a reputation for excellence soon led to the selection of Harpur College as one of four doctorate-granting University Centers in the SUNY system.

In 1965, the campus was formally designated the State University of New York at Binghamton, and in 1992, Binghamton University was adopted as our informal name.
