Posting Summary:

The REDCap Senior System Administrator oversees the integration of the high-impact Research Data Capture system of REDCap into research at the Larner College of Medicine. This includes gathering stakeholder input and feedback about research data capture and participating in national discussions and development of this tool. The core responsibilities of this role are to: provide software installations and upgrades; to regularly administer and monitor them and schedule future upgrades; to ensure system integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing technical solutions (both software and hardware); to create, document, implement and manage user training and support procedures. The position will also work to maintain a data/media recovery plan that includes regular backups and archiving, and develops and promotes standard operating procedures. Additional responsibilities include documenting core operating procedures — such as User Management, Data Management and System Upgrading — providing training and documentation to users, gathering user requirements, and troubleshooting errors/future needs. This position will report to the Database and Applications Manager.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):

Bachelor’s degree in a technology field and four to five years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which may include a Master’s degree.

Desirable Qualifications:

Advanced proficiency as a REDCap project leader and user. Prior experience in PHP preferred.Direct Clinical Research experience.Demonstrated understanding of PHI and HIPAA regulations.
Advanced analytical, conceptual and technical problem-solving abilities.Understanding of data integration issues (validation and cleaning), familiarity with complex data and structures with a keen interest in programming and database design and tuning.Ability to provide effective customer service across all levels of the organization.Ability to apply diagnostic techniques for problem troubleshooting.Excellent interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills.
