Position Summary:

We are currently searching for an Admissions Counselor to join our Washington DC Campus.

Salary: $28.21/hour ($55,000/year)


The Admission Counselor will be responsible for recruiting students for competitive graduate programs in psychology and related behavioral sciences. The successful candidate will be an articulate, organized, results driven, dynamic and enthusiastic team player. The position will report to the Director of Admission. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a talented and committed professional whose skills and attitude complement a dynamic, collegial team.

Principal Duties:

Achieve budgeted enrollment goals for each term (fall and spring) by maintaining targeted conversion metrics
Complete outbound calls daily to prospective students who have indicated an interest in The Chicago School by submitting a request for additional information
Clearly and persuasively articulate the mission of The Chicago School to prospective students
Conduct in person and telephone interviews to screen potential applicants, explain The Chicago School's academic programs and advise/counsel regarding admission requirements
Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with prospective students by conducting follow up throughout the admissions process
Represent TCS at college fairs, class visits, conferences on a national level
Conduct campus tours on an as-needed basis
Participate in weekly strategic review meetings with the Director of Admissions
Participate in periodic campus staff meetings as part of the broader campus team
Respond to students' requests and questions within 24 hours.
Evaluate and score applications and provide recommendations to the Director of Admissions or committee regarding admission decisions
Perform other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree desired, Master's preferred
Spanish language fluency a plus
One to three years of admission experience
Valid driver's license
Ability to travel (very limited) and work some evenings and weekends required
Excellent communication skills (persuasive and negotiation skills, strong writing, public speaking, interpersonal and public relations skills)
Computer skills including word processing, database management and power point
Ability to represent The Chicago School in a professional manner, recruit and work within a diverse community and at a post-baccalaureate level
Ability to self-initiate and execute with minimal supervision
Leadership, organizational, time management and planning capabilities
