The School of Education & Human Development (SEHD) at the University of Colorado Denver announces a tenure-track Associate Professor and Program Director position in the COAMFTE accredited Couples & Family Therapy Program beginning in the summer of 2022. The Couples and Family Therapy program prepares relational therapists who value inclusion and prize diversity such that they are prepared to offer a continuum of mental health services across a variety of settings for the benefit of the community and society.

 

The School of Education & Human Development (SEHD) is a leading school of education, providing national expertise on educational issues and socially-just solutions for urban and diverse communities. Responsibilities:

This position includes leading and managing a couple and family therapy program as well as traditional academic responsibilities of teaching research and service.

    Manages the Couple and Family Therapy in all areas, including program faculty mentoring, course scheduling, program development and assessment, adjunct faculty hiring. Responsible for COAMFTE accreditation and reporting. Collaborates with other School of Education & Human Development Program Leaders, Administrators, and Departments on behalf of the Couple and Family Therapy Program. Coordinate with and support on campus training clinic
  • Teach graduate courses in the Couple & Family Therapy program. Infuses culturally inclusive curriculum and social justice content into all courses.
  • Develop and carry out a rigorous research agenda.  Engage actively with other faculty in the development and elaboration of the School’s research themes such as equity, urban populations, and cultural diversity.
  • Support the development and maintenance of partnerships within the greater Denver area community.
Employment Conditions

This is a 12-month position (9-month faculty academic year position plus 3-month summer contract). This is a 9-month faculty position with a required academic-year administrative load as well as separately compensated summer administrative responsibilities. [The position has typically been associated with a 30% teaching, 30% research, 30% administrative, 10% service load, but adjustments to this distribution are negotiable.] The opportunity for summer teaching for additional compensation is generally available, as well.

Salary and Benefits:

The 9-month salary range for this position is $90,000 -- $98,000. The administrative stipend for summer is 10% of 9-month base salary. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation. 

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • A doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from a AAMFT accredited doctoral program
  • Experience in the Marriage and Family Therapy field.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Colorado (if license eligible, Colorado licensure must be completed within one year of start date)
  • Commitment to the professional field of Marriage and Family Therapy evidenced by involvement in professional organizations.   
Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated success or potential for success in teaching and mentoring graduate students.
  • Demonstrated success or potential for success in strong productivity in research particularly in areas including or related to cultural competence/culturally responsive practices
  • Leadership experience at the program, department, or college level 
  • Demonstrated success or potential for success in grant writing and grant management.
  • Evidence of cultural competency and inclusion in prior experiences as practitioner, instructor and researcher
  • Clear evidence that race, ethnicity, gender, ability, sexual orientation, social status, religion, and veteran status and/or other social justice issues are addressed in past syllabi, teaching, and supervision.
  • AAMFT Approved Supervisor
  • Experience working with graduate students in instruction, supervision, and mentoring activities.
  • History of collaborative research and/or grant funded projects
