The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and the Laboratory Medicine Program at the University Health Network (UHN) are seeking to recruit for the position of Assistant Director or Co-Director, Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics Laboratory with aligned clinical, diagnostic and research skills in this area, at the rank of Assistant/ Associate or Full Professor. The expected start date is July 1, 2022 or mutually agreed upon.

The successful candidate will join a large academic histocompatibility (HLA) laboratory and join a specialized Laboratory Medicine & Pathobiology Faculty with diverse diagnostic expertise, teaching responsibilities, and basic and clinical research activities. The UHN HLA laboratory has a high volume of interesting and complex cases. It supports the extensive and highly specialized Toronto-area Multi-Organ and Bone Marrow Transplantation programs of UHN, Hospital for Sick Children, and St. Michael’s Hospital. Minimum requirements include PhD or MD degree and American Society for Histocompatibility & Immunogenetics Director Training Accreditation (completed or to be completed within one year of start date).

The successful candidate will engage in clinical case management with all stakeholders, participate in teaching of trainees and technologists, and participate in on-call responsibilities supporting the multi-organ transplant programs and the local organ donation organization. The candidate must demonstrate excellence in clinical, research, and teaching activities. This full time, permanent position (37.5 hours per week) offers an annual salary in the range of $143,596 - $192,535, as well as a competitive benefits package.
