Job Description
The Department of Mathematics & Statistics is currently seeking to fill an Academic Program Coordinator-Intermediate position to support the Lumberjack Mathematics Center (LMC). This position will work closely with other members of the LMC Leadership team and reports to the LMC Manager. The Academic Program Coordinator-Intermediate position supports the administrative operations of the LMC, which offers math classes and tutoring for approximately 3000 students per semester.

Qualified candidates will work with college and department leadership to respond to academic, technical, and administrative matters and ensure that the LMC’s needs are being met while following University policies and procedures. This position will also provide excellent customer service to the faculty, staff, students, and visitors that interact with the LMC daily.

Essential Functions

LMC Program Management - 25%

  • Serves as a member of LMC Leadership team
  • Manages official LMC communications (website, e-mail, phone, Bright signs)
  • Maintains and monitors classroom, lab, and office supplies, ordering as needed
  • Serves as bookstore/Follett liaison for LMC courses - textbook purchasing and follow up as needed
  • Cross Trains with Peak Program Coordinator to utilize and support departmental resources effectively
Summer Programming Oversight - 15%

  • Manages the LMC during math components for residential summer bridge programs
  • Approves payroll for all math tutors and instructors utilized for summer bridge
  • Manages human resource and hiring paperwork for staff hired for bridge programs
  • Keeps records for all summer bridge operations including participants and data
Departmental Technology Support - 25%

  • Serves as initial stop for all LMC classroom and lab equipment
  • Provides tech support for all software and hardware issues in classrooms and lab
  • Maintains LMC copiers, printers, and digital display devices
  • Maintains systems management support software
  • Serves as a liaison to all publishers used in LMC lab and classrooms, including Pearson and McGraw-Hill
Human Resources Liaison - 10%

  • Initiates and monitors new hire paperwork for all undergraduate student staff
  • Serves as liaison for LMC in interactions with the HR Service Team
  • Approves payroll for 50-70 student wage employees in the LMC.
  • May work with department financial staff
Building Management - 10%

  • Oversees the use and operations of all academic areas in Bldg 60, 2nd floor
  • Serves as main point of contact and floor liaison for Bldg 60, 2nd floor
LMC Scheduling Coordination - 15%

  • Maintains master schedules for all LMC spaces, including classrooms, conference room and testing room
  • Schedules student employees for classroom teaching and lab assignments

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree; AND,
  • 2 - 4 years of administrative/coordinative program experience; OR,
  • 6 years of increasing responsibility in administrative/coordinative experience. OR,
  • Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education related field
  • Knowledge of higher education administrative systems and related business principles.
  • Experience with tutoring and/or tutoring labs

Background Information

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check. Additionally, as an employer in the state of Arizona, NAU is required to participate in the federal E-Verify program that assists employers with verifying new employees' right to work in the United States. Finally, each year Northern Arizona University releases an Annual Security Report. The report is a result of a federal law known as the Clery Act. The report includes Clery reportable crime statistics for the three most recent completed calendar years and discloses procedures, practices and programs NAU uses to keep students and employees safe including how to report crimes or other emergencies occurring on campus. In addition, the Fire Safety Report is combined with the Annual Security Report for the NAU Flagstaff Mountain Campus as this campus has on-campus student housing. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities. Salary

Salary range begins at $41,421. Annual salary commensurate with candidate's qualifications and related experience.


FLSA Status

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.


Benefits

This is a Classified Staff (CLS) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System; paid vacation and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified dependents. More information on benefits at NAU is available on the Human Resources benefits website. Classified Staff employees are in a probationary status for their first six months at NAU. NAU is a tobacco and smoke-free campus. Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). New employees are eligible for benefits on the first day of the pay period following their enrollment, after their employment date. Employees will have 31 days from their start date to enroll in benefits. Additionally, new employees will begin participating in the Arizona State Retirement System, and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it, on the first of the pay period following 6 months after the new employee's start date.
