Under the direction of the Vice President for Student Academic Success (VP-SAS), the Assistant Vice President for Career and Technical Education (ASVP-CTE) serves as a deputy for VP-SAS and is responsible for leading academic strategies that support career and technical programs and foster student success outcomes for a diverse student body. The ASVP-CTE collaborates with CTE deans, faculty, and staff to identify and create the conditions that support student learning and closing student achievement gaps. The ASVP-CTE will work collaboratively with the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs (ASVP-AA), Academic Affairs Executive Staff, and the MCC Leadership Team to implement, guide, and promote academic success and teaching and learning strategies that serve as a comprehensive, integrated approach toward enhancing and improving the persistence, retention, and graduation rates of Mott Community College students. Supervisory Responsibility: The ASVP-CTE will supervise the Manager of Career and Technical Education, the Deans of the CTE Divisions, and any administrative staff assigned to support them.


  1. Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a CTE field or subfield.

  2. Must have three (3) or more years of successful CTE leadership at the division level.

  3. Must have two (2) or more years teaching experience in a CTE discipline.

  4. Must have two (2) years supervisory experience, including hiring, developing, and managing employee performance, can be concurrent with #2.

  5. Must know and have experience in program accreditation processes.

  6. Experience in analytical systems, assessment, institutional research or decision support planning

  7. Knowledge of and experience in interpreting state and federal regulations as well as pending legislation impacting research, accreditation, and overall assessment.

  8. Must have demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  9. Must have experience working with a diverse student population and demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of the broad spectrum of individuals representing the College and staff populations.

  10. Experience developing and monitoring budgets.

CAMPUS PROFILE

Mott's main campus is situated on the former grounds of the Charles Stewart Mott Estate. Students, employees and visitors love spending time on our beautifully landscaped and well-maintained acreage. The campus is located just east of downtown Flint, in the College/Cultural district. The Cultural Center is a 30-acre site offering enriching exhibits, performances, festivals and events educating over 600,000 visitors per year within the Flint Institute of Arts, Flint Institute of Music, Flint Repertory Theatre, Longway Planetarium, Sloan Museum, and The Whiting. The College is easily accessed by three interstate highways: I-75, I-69 and US-23. Bishop International Airport, is located ten minutes from the main campus. We are conveniently located about an hour from Ann Arbor, Lansing and Detroit. Those who enjoy a more rural, less hurried environment can travel "up north" within an hour.
