The University of Maine President regularly communicates with various audiences on and off campus as the leader of Maine’s research and land grant university and its regional campus, the University of Maine at Machias, and as the University of Maine System Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation. These audiences include members of the university community, civic groups, and businesses, members of the legislature and Congressional Delegation, UMS and others at the local, state and national levels. The Director of Presidential Communications develops a wide range of communications on behalf of the President. The successful candidate will work closely with the President, Chief of Staff, and Senior Executive Director of Marketing and Communications, and in conjunction with the University of Maine Foundation team to craft communications, including correspondence, formal speeches, presentations, social media, video recordings and other collateral materials for the President. The Director of Presidential Communications also will work with relevant members of the leadership and deans’ councils and their teams in coordinating the content and delivery of the communications as needed.
