The Honors Program at Temple University is dedicated to providing high-achieving students with enriching academic opportunities, holistic advising, a dynamic and inclusive community, and strong encouragement and support along the way to commencement—and beyond.  
 
Our staff provides individualized advising on course selection, scholarships, fellowship applications, careers, and graduate schools. We also offer specialized Honors classes, housing in the Honors Living-Learning Community, and leadership opportunities through our multiple Honors student organizations. The Senior Advisor provides developmental and holistic advising to talented students across all of Temple’s schools and colleges, with multiple options and complex academic and professional goals. 

The Senior Advisor provides leadership to various advising staff functions and counseling activities, and the design and implementation of academic advising protocols for students. The Senior Advisor will be chartered to create and implement special programs, oversee multifaceted activities and services provided to Honors students, and will mentor other advisors and academic support positions. 

The position is involved with all aspects of advising and includes the development, coordination and implementation of educational counseling services geared to achieving, maintaining, or improving student success and retention. This position may include supervising others and will include the opportunity to teach Honors first-year seminars. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Master's degree and three or more years of related experience. At least two (2) years advising experience in a higher education academic setting; demonstrated leadership/project management experience; training design and/or delivery exposure. Demonstrated experience with public speaking in both large and small groups.

Required Skills & Abilities:
* Excellent interpersonal, customer service and organizational skills along with the ability to relate to a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff. 
* Demonstrate oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to work with high-achieving and gifted students who have wide-ranging academic needs and interests.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation software.
* Demonstrated understanding with automated student information systems, such as Banner. 
* Demonstrated ability to work with others as part of a team
* Ability to work occasional weekend and evening hours, when necessary.

Preferred:
* Demonstrated experience in first-year experience initiatives (orientation, first-year seminar, co-curricular programming, LLC). 
* Demonstrated experience in program development, implementation, and supervision.
* Demonstrated experience in teaching at the college level.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
