Job Summary

UMass Makerspace assistant: helps manage the day-to-day operations of the UMass Makerspace.

Essential Functions

  • Work with student makerspace staff to delegate and accomplish makerspace tasks
  • Mentor students creating projects in the makerspace
  • Provide supervision for students working with power tools
  • Improve organizational systems in the makerspace

Other Functions

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions that pertain to a shop environment
  • Ability to use various operating systems and software applications
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication
  • Ability to work cooperatively with a heterogeneous public of faculty, students, and other staff
  • Moderate lifting to move materials around the makerspace
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with discretion

Salary Information

$18-$25 an hour based on experience of candidate
