Job Summary
UMass Makerspace assistant: helps manage the day-to-day operations of the UMass Makerspace.
Essential Functions
- Work with student makerspace staff to delegate and accomplish makerspace tasks
- Mentor students creating projects in the makerspace
- Provide supervision for students working with power tools
- Improve organizational systems in the makerspace
Other Functions
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions that pertain to a shop environment
- Ability to use various operating systems and software applications
- Proficiency in oral and written communication
- Ability to work cooperatively with a heterogeneous public of faculty, students, and other staff
- Moderate lifting to move materials around the makerspace
- Ability to work independently and effectively with discretion

Salary Information
$18-$25 an hour based on experience of candidate
