Job Summary
The University Marcom Group leads and coordinates strategic marketing efforts for UMass Amherst to raise the institution’s global visibility and deepen its reputation as one of the nation’s great public research universities. It tells the university’s stories through a wide array of platforms and builds strong relationships with important audiences through a variety of traditional and new marketing tactics. Additionally, the Marcom group provides leadership, consultation, partnership, and coordination for marketers and communicators across campus, collaborating with all colleges, schools, and units.
The Web Administrator supports the university’s top tier websites. Under the direction of the Director of Web, the Web Administrator is responsible for supporting web-related tasks including but not limited to, website content updates, website migrations through development and staging hosting architecture, and testing websites following security updates and maintenance functions. As a member of the Marcom web team, the Web Administrator will be part of a dynamic environment that utilizes multiple software such as Drupal and Siteimprove to support university websites. The Web Administrator will be the forward-facing Marcom representative to our campus partners. They will also answer questions from partners related to their websites.
Essential Functions
- Respond to campus partners’ requests for assistance related to existing websites.
- Utilize site integrity software to monitor websites to identify and remediate broken links and ensure compliance with ADA WCAG 2.1, Level AA web guidelines.
- Review websites to ensure compliance with university brand guidelines.
- Proactively reach out to partners to update websites and fix issues.
- Assist with entering content in Drupal 9 CMS.
- Provide additional website training to campus partners as needed.
- Find, diagnose, and fix content problems, including broken links, typographical errors, and formatting inconsistencies.
- Perform website administration, such as setting user roles and permissions, and managing access and workflows.
- Collaborate with staff in Information Technology to resolve technical issues.
- Reinforce web support plans, including client communications and internal coordination with Marcom web team.
- Contribute to knowledge base documentation of website governance policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)
- Bachelor’s degree with three (3) plus years' experience implementing and maintaining websites.
- Demonstrated experience with front-end design of Drupal 8 or Drupal 9 websites.
- Excellent web support skills, willingness to learn other skills related to web design and web maintenance.
- Strong written and oral communications skills, able to present information in a clear and concise manner in a group setting.
- Strong organizational skills, including multitasking and the ability to complete assignments independently.
- Experienced user of MS Office toolset (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team setting with a diverse group of people.
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)
- Experience with supporting websites hosted on Acquia cloud architecture.
- Demonstrated experience using Google Data Studio to generate website reports.
- A mix of public/private industry, higher-education, and nonprofit experience.
- Experience with modern collaborative tools such as MS Teams, SharePoint, Wrike, or Basecamp.
