Job Description

The Data Analytics and Computational Social Science (DACSS) Program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (https://www.umass.edu/sbs/data-analytics-and-computational-social-science-program/about) is seeking non-tenure track, part-time faculty to teach a variety of courses remotely to our online certificate and masters students, or in-person in Boston or Amherst to our in-person students. We are seeking candidates with experience in teaching topics in data science, quantitative analysis, or research design, to teach DACSS core courses (DACSS 601 Data Science Fundamentals, DACSS 602 Research Design, and DACSS 603 Introduction to Quantitative Analysis) or core technical electives (Survey design and analysis, Text as Data, Networks, Machine Learning, Experiments, Simulations and Formal Models, Data Visualization, or advanced quantitative courses.) candidates with active research experience in these areas are especially encouraged to apply and would be welcome to offer related courses to our online students. The program provides course materials and training to support asynchronous and hybrid learning.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in anthropology, communications, economics, political science, psychology, sociology, computer science, data science, or a related discipline, or a master’s with commensurate professional experience. Successful candidates will have demonstrated teaching and/or research interests in computational social science, and will be able to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as an ability to work with diverse populations.
