Our Opportunity



South Puget Sound Community College invites applications for a part-time hourly dentist for the upcoming 2021-2022 academic year. The position is available beginning September 2021. Days are Mondays, Tuesdays, and/or Wednesdays and based on the academic calendar. Hours will be in the dental clinic other duties may include oversight of the Expanded Function Dental Assisting (EFDA) program. This position is hourly and hours may vary per quarter.

What You'll Do

What You'll Do

  • Perform general dentistry in the Campus Clinic 5-10 hours a week;
  • Responsible for diagnosis and treatment of patients and/or making appropriate referrals;
  • Provide occasional on call coverage for emergency, and another provider’s absence;
  • Work closely with the Patient Services Supervisor, faculty and staff to address clinic flow and operations, including:
    1. Provide input on continuing basis regarding the equipment, supplies and instruction required in the clinic;
    2. Support dental clinic philosophy, policies, and standards;
    3. Treatment plan sealants for student clinical labs;
  • Other related duties may include,
    1. Collaborate with the Dental Assisting Program Director on Dental Assisting and EFDA program operations, evaluations and revision

Working Conditions:
The working conditions are the same as in a general practice. The schedule is organized with both the student's and dentist's needs in mind. The clinic schedules patients between 7:50am and 12:00pm M, T, W, F during the Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters and M, T, W during the Summer quarter, and is closed during school breaks. Minimum qualification:
 

  • Licensed to practice dentistry in the State of Washington;
  • Ability to interact positively with diverse group of students, staff, and faculty;


Preferred qualifications:

 

 

  • Three or more years work experience as a dentist
  • Experience working with dental assisting students or externs
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with others
