Salary Information:

Starting salary: $65,731 (work experience and meeting the desired qualifications listed may be considered in setting a salary above the minimum)

Job Summary:

Supervise the care of the college grounds, moving of staff and faculty furniture and equipment, college vehicle pool, maintenance of college owned vehicles, snow removal and the mail department.

Essential Functions:

Perform long-range planning, design and development of the college grounds and landscaping.Supervise the maintenance of approximately 70 pieces of grounds equipment and maintenance and repair of college asphalt and concrete parking lots, roadways and sidewalks. Supervise snow removal. Supervise moving of college furniture and equipment.Supervise the maintenance, repair and purchasing of approximately 60 college vehicles. Supervise operation of the college’s vehicle pool.Supervise departmental staff, recommend personnel actions related to hiring, compensation, performance evaluations, training, leaves, discipline, grievances, work schedules and assignments, administers personnel and related policies and procedures per the collective bargaining agreements and the EEO/AA plan. Develop and implement ongoing training programs for all new and temporary employees of the grounds and transportation department.Apply pesticides and maintain records for all college commercial pesticide applicators licenses in accordance with state law.Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Associate’s degree in a related field (horticulture, mechanics, etc.).
Five years experience in commercial grounds maintenance and/or equipment and vehicle maintenance which included two years of supervisory responsibilities.
Valid Iowa CDL class B driver license.
Pesticide applicators license.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to plan, organize and manage time.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with a wide variety of individuals coming from diverse backgrounds.
Knowledge of current software applications.
