Job Description:


Responsible for providing instruction on a wide range of Information Systems Technology courses including programming, an introductory problem-solving course, cloud computing, relational database. Utilizing programing languages such as Java, .Net, C/C++, Python, and scripting languages such as JavaScript, PHP, HTML, Cisco, Cybersecurity, etc.



Supervision Received: Reports to the Associate Vice President of Workforce Development or the President's designee



Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Provide instruction of his/her assigned course(s)
  • Responsible for creating a classroom environment which fosters students' academic growth and guides their professional development.
  • Responsible for the creation and revision of daily lesson plans.
  • Responsible for accurate record keeping of student attendance and academic progress.
  • Correct and return assignments in a timely manner to students.
  • Use online testing systems, and Learning Management System.
  • Follow established institutional guidelines.
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs students in a timely manner of their progress.
  • Participate fully in curriculum development initiatives in the department.
  • Attend and participate in all appropriate Department, Division, and College meetings and activities.
  • Work with colleagues to promote cross curriculum and cross discipline initiatives.
  • Assist in the recruitment and orientation of new personnel.
  • Keep current with Instructional Technology
  • Meets with and advises students during set hours or by appointment.
  • Serve on at least one of the standing College governance committees (ACUERDO).
  • Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Master's degree in Information Technology or related field
  • Experience in the use of current educational technologies for classroom and/or online instruction.
  • Experience using a Learning management system, and the MS Office Suite of applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Experience with Cisco
  • Working knowledge of Linux, Unix, and Microsoft Server
  • Strength in Java, Visual Basic, and a variety of other computer programming languages, networking operations, and computer hardware systems.
  • One years teaching experience at the college level.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Teaching Experience at a Community College.
  • Experience working with students from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds who possess wide ranges of academic abilities and interests.
  • Experience in outcomes assessment a strong plus.
  • Experience with Instructional Technology is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Jenzabar or similar online learning applications.
  • Experience teaching and developing online courses and using OER.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide diverse teaching methods to different learning styles

Applicant Instructions:


Candidates who accept an interview are required to give a 20-minute lesson to the hiring committee on a specified topic. The committee will act as students for the candidate's lesson. Candidates are strongly encouraged to use learner centered methods. If in person, a smart board, computer and projector will be made available for the lesson.


If chosen for the Full Time Information Systems Technology position, the selected faculty member must be willing and able to certify fully on the CISCO platform within a year of their start date and maintain active applicable certification in the future. This may be accomplished by successfully passing the CCNA exam, or earned all badges for completion of the CISCO CCNA series of courses. The college will cover the cost of enrolling in the courses.

  • This is a full-time, Unit Professional position, with full benefits.

Compensation: The salary will be determined based on the guidelines and procedures of the Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC) collective bargaining agreement.
