Job Description

The Associate IT Director of Technology Management Services is a key position responsible for the oversight of highly technical teams that provide Technical Support for numerous Academic and Administrative Units.

This position reports to the Associate CIO and assists in activities required to plan, design, coordinate, implement and support cost-effective technology-based systems, environments, and services following organizational standards and best IT practices.

Technology Management Services consists of ~30 employees and four direct support areas: Technology & Infrastructure Services (2 locations), IT Project Management, Campus Operators, and Academic Enhancement within UMKC Information Services.

IT personnel with supervisory, budgetary, and technical skills would be a great fit for this position. The position is primarily a standard M-F workweek but does require some night and weekend support in case of emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree.
  • 5+ years experience in the direct delivery of IT support.
  • 5+ year’s supervisory experience.
  • Employee must carry a cell phone where they can be reached for emergency support,
  • Employee must provide internet service if/when working remotely

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to think strategically, as well as tactically, and to exercise sound judgment in problem-solving and priority/goal setting
  • Strong service-oriented attitude
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • Strong management skills sufficient to successfully manage people
  • Project management skills and ability to effectively prioritize projects
  • Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams and departments
  • Ability to mentor and lead less experienced colleagues, both within and outside of the department
  • Ability to provide operational leadership and guidance to department staff

Salary

$73,000 - $90,000 per year, pay commensurate with experience.
