Your opportunity:

Under the general direction of the Assistant Manager, Co-curricular Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging and the Assistant Manager, Physical Activity, the Coordinator, Physical Activity, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging assists with the coordination and implementation of diverse and comprehensive physical activity and sport programs with an emphasis on an educational and participant centered approach with a focus on equity and engagement.

The incumbent acts as the coordinator and a champion of equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging programming across co-curricular programs. They will assists with the design, coordination, implementation and evaluation of training and education sessions and special programs as they relate to accessibility, equity, and diversity across co-curricular programs.

The incumbent is responsible to provide day-to-day administrative support and coordination for the efficient and effective delivery of co-curricular equity programs. They assists in supporting the short and long term program planning activities and respond to routine inquiries and program issues that require timely resolution. They work closely and liaises frequently with other co-curricular coordinators, providing back-up administrative support when necessary. The coordinator has a broad-based knowledge of Physical Activity, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion issues. This knowledge will provide a foundation that will allow the incumbent to assist in the delivery of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging programs within the co-curricular portfolio.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Keeping well-informed on theories related to equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Providing detailed information on processes, policies, and procedures and responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate.
  • Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
  • Facilitating staff training, educational workshops and seminars
  • Maintaining the team's social media and web presence
  • Coordinating the recruitment process and training of casual and work-study staff
  • Acting as the first point of contact for payroll related enquiries
  • Maintain records of staff certifications (e.g first aid + CPR) and maintain updated staff handbooks.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Physical & Health Education or Sports Administration or equivalent acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in the coordination, planning, implementation, promotion and delivery of physical activity and sport programs in a university and/or sport and recreation environment
  • Experience in the coordination and facilitation of programs and educational workshops and seminars, specifically for diverse populations
  • Experience promoting equity, diversity and accessibility issues to raise awareness
  • Must have knowledge of and significant experience with students, youth, leadership and related programming
  • Must have an understanding of complex issues related to equity, diversity and inclusion as they relate to the student experience, the workplace and discrimination faced by marginalized communities
  • Experience maintaining content for marketing and/or promotional materials including, social media, brochures, newsletters and websites
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills in a position that requires tact and discretion
  • Demonstrated excellent administrative and coordination skills
  • Strong computer competencies with proficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have a commitment to the Faculty’s mission and values and an understanding and commitment to diversity and equity issues
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution and problem solving skills
  • Must have the ability to exercise sound judgment and creative thinking


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience with FUSION program registration system is an asset.
  • Experience working with sport instructors and coaches is an asset
  • Fluency in an additional language an asset
