Position Summary:

This person will be responsible for identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships with clinical sites for the purpose of establishing clinical rotations for Physician Assistant (PA) students. Position will require travel to clinical sites to evaluate the site, PA student performance, and the overall quality of the clinical rotation experience. This person will assure compliance with PA program handbook, College policies & procedures, and ARC-PA standards as they pertain to clinical rotations and Supervised Clinical Practice Experiences (SCPE).

Abilities and Skills:

-Demonstrates knowledge of the profession, including theory and practice, current procedures, equipment and techniques used, as well as applicable regulations. (Minimum)


-Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited PA Program or graduate of an ABMS or AOA-approved medical school. (Minimum)-Physician Assistant applicants must hold current NCCPA certification (PA-C) AND be either currently licensed, or board-eligible to become licensed, as a PA-C in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. (Minimum)-PA-C must hold master’s degree or higher in Physician Assistant or related discipline—OR—possess bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant and commit to completing a master’s degree in a related discipline within two (2) years of hire. (Minimum)-Physician applicants must hold current licensure as an allopathic or osteopathic physician in Pennsylvania and must be certified by an ABMS or AOA-approved specialty board without restrictions. (Minimum)


-Three (3) years of clinical experience as a PA-C—OR—three (3) years as a physician with experience supervising PA-Cs. (Minimum)
-Prior experience as an instructor in higher education. (Desired)
-Experience working in an academic Physician Assistant Program. (Desired)

Responsibilities and Duties :

-In consultation with the Program Director and Program Faculty, coordinate clinical, classroom, and laboratory education. (Essential)
-Assure clinical instruction effectiveness by overseeing and administering required program examinations, clinical competency evaluations, skills check-offs, and OSCEs on campus. (Essential)
-Provide supervision, instruction, and assistance to all students during senior internships, ensuring that expected clinical learning outcomes are achieved. (Essential)
-Participate in prescheduled didactic year skills check-offs, competencies, and other assessment measures as assigned by the Program Director, not to exceed a maximum of 6 credits or 9 contact hours per semester. (Essential)
-Act as liaison between affiliate clinical sites, the Program Director, and the College. (Essential)
-In collaboration with the Program Director and Program Coordinator, recruit and maintain relationships with area healthcare providers and community leaders for the purposes of supporting clinical sites, program enrollment, and program objectives. (Essential)
-Assist Program Director and Program Coordinator with maintaining clinical site and preceptor databases, with focus on ensuring affiliation agreements remain current and that preceptors maintain appropriate credentials and are in good standing with the applicable board(s). (Essential)
-Participate in advisory board meetings. (Minimum)
-Provide academic advising for both pre-PA and in-program PA students. (Essential)
-Maintain current, accurate records on students, including ensuring student compliance with all required clearance documentation for SCPEs. (Essential)

-Write and update course syllabi; assist with curriculum review, revision, and development. (Essential)
-Actively participate in the ARC-PA accreditation process by working with the Program and College leadership to maintain continued accreditation. (Essential)
-Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum for PA education and incorporation of instructional experiences within the curriculum designed to achieve and maintain compliance with ARC-PA standards. (Essential)
-Assist with data collection, outcomes assessment, and document construction for accreditation self-study, annual assessment reporting, and program review. (Essential)
-Participate in clinical-related activities. (Essential)
-Engage in professional development and new technological activities in order to upgrade skills and knowledge base. (Essential)
-Attend educational conferences and designated programs which support PA education and practice. (Marginal)
-Contribute to the betterment of the Program and the College by serving on and/or participating in College committees as requested or designated. (Marginal)
-Assist with the preparation of grant proposals and with follow-up activities. (Marginal)
-Assist Program faculty and staff in reviewing admissions packets and validating applicants’ medical experience hours for selective admissions process. (Essential)
-In collaboration with Program Director and Program Coordinator, schedule clinical experiences in an effective and efficient manner to maximize the learning experience for the students. (Essential)
-Participate in local, state, and national professional organizations to ensure program excellence as well as the appropriateness of the curriculum, instruction, and application to clinical situations. (Essential)
-Utilize learning management system and online testing. (Essential)
-Conduct clinical site visits on a schedule approved by Program Director to assess student performance and/or ensure the physical facilities, patient populations, and supervision being provided by preceptors are appropriate for students to fulfill program learning outcomes. (Essential)
-In collaboration with the Program Director, update the preceptor manual to ensure preceptors and students understand their roles and responsibilities during senior internships. (Essential)
-Assist Program Director, Program Coordinator, and Program faculty with coordination and implementation of annual Program participation in community service/community-based learning opportunities. (Marginal)

-Some evening and weekend hours will be necessary to meet the needs of the program.
-Frequent travel including long distance travel and/or overnight stays may be required.
-State Police, Child Line, and FBI fingerprint clearances under the Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) required before employment can begin.
