Overview
KPBS Television and Radio broadcast programs in the public interest to San Diego. Additionally, KPBS offers digital services through its various digital offerings inclusive of KPBS.org.

The KPBS Corporate Development Department is responsible for securing support from corporations, foundations, individual businesses and government agencies. That support is recognized in the form of underwriting or credits in our local, regional and national television and radio programming. Additionally, the Corporate Development Department is responsible for generating revenue through support of the KPBS.org website.


Responsibilities
The Account Executive has a highly visible position that along with the Corporate Development Manager acts as a liaison to the business community. Duties include securing financial commitments for Radio and Television programs, KPBS.org website and various KPBS events in the form of underwriting/sponsorships from the business community, individuals, foundations, agencies and media buyers.

The Account Executive is responsible for the development and maintenance of all revenue generating accounts. This includes target marketing, prospecting, initiating sales calls, sales appointments, presentations, proposals, and closing agreements. Additional duties include servicing and maintaining accounts, supplying internal accounting and reporting necessary to achieve agreed upon individual revenue goals by platform.

The Account Executive is also responsible for the timely collection of payments due KPBS from their accounts, works with their clients to produce underwriting credits or web ads, and attends KPBS activities related to Corporate Development.


Qualifications
  • Four years professional experience in the areas of outside sales, advertising sales, fundraising, or marketing.

Preferred Qualifications
  • San Diego market experience
  • TV-Radio-web sales experience
  • Experience with Nielsen, Arbitron and Scarborough
  • Experience working in public broadcasting
