The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant Level in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series.
The UCLA bariatric surgery program seeks a bariatric surgery fellowship trained, board eligible or board certified bariatric surgeon to join our program. Applicants must possess an M.D. degree or equivalent to apply and be eligible for a California Medical license. This position offers teaching, clinical and research opportunities in a large academic center. This individual will spend part time with VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare general surgery. This individual will be primarily responsible for building the bariatric program at UCLA Santa Monica hospital and make it an ASMBS Center of Excellence for bariatric surgery in 2-3 years. Training/experience in new techniques such as endoscopic bariatric procedures and duodenal switch is required. The candidate will supervise and teach residents, medical students and other trainees. The main teaching responsibilities include FLS, FUSE, FES and robotic training for the residents and other trainees. The ideal candidate should also have strong research background with a good publication record. The candidate is expected to be productive in surgical outcome, robotic surgery or basic research.
