Position Description:
Reporting to the AUL for Research and Development, the FTVA Media Project Manager (FTVAMPM) provides project management for major software development and infrastructure projects such as systems deployment, hardware and database migrations and other technical aspects of Library services. The FTVAMPM works with stakeholders to develop and maintain preservation programs for the UCLA Library Film and Television Archive's various digital media collections. Designs, deploys and manages accessible, retrievable computer archives and databases, incorporating current advances in digital storage technology. The FTVAMPM works with stakeholders to articulate goals, define scope, and prioritize deliverables; collaborates with project teams to develop project plans; monitors progress during project implementation and communicates status with stakeholders, project teams, and Archive and Library management. Synthesizes and articulates user needs into actionable solutions, and serves as a key voice to socialize and operationalize new technology solutions. The FTVAMPM works with key library and campus partners to develop and clarify service-level agreements to ensure future sustainability.

Digital Initiatives and Information Technology (DIIT) supports library staff and users by providing access to library technologies via the campus network infrastructure backbone. Supported technology resources include the integrated library system and online catalog; network connectivity including servers, storage, operating system and application server delivery; and programming and application development in support of digital and web based initiatives. Through collaborative efforts with all areas of UCLA's libraries, DIIT assists in the development and delivery of technologies for all types of electronic resources. DIIT is comprised of three teams: Operations and Services (including Data Center and Network Team, Helpdesk Team and Learning & Research Technology Services), Development, and Digital Library Program. DIIT's 40+ staff members also work as collaborative partners with units in other areas of the library, and provide technology support for the major business systems used by the libraries.

UCLA Film & Television Archive, a department of the UCLA Library, collects moving images as works of art and as social and historical documents, restores and preserves moving images for current and future generations, curates collections, programs and events using moving images to advance knowledge, and provides access to moving images for purposes of research, education and enjoyment. The Archive's collections consist of over 500,000 holdings dating from the dawn of cinema to the present and cover a broad-spectrum of content from major Hollywood studios films and network television shows to independent productions and news footage.

UCLA is a public research university located in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. It was founded in 1919 and is the second oldest of the ten campuses affiliated with the University of California system. UCLA offers over 300 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a wide range of disciplines and enrolls about 26,000 undergraduate and about 12,000 graduate students from the United States and around the world every year.

UCLA features the College of Letters and Science, seven general campus professional schools, and four professional schools for the health sciences. The UCLA College of Letters and Science has 34 academic departments and 900 faculty, and houses the majority of UCLA's 129 undergraduate majors as well as the students in the Graduate Division of Letters and Sciences. The UCLA College Honors Program is also housed in the College. The College of Letters and Science's programs are divided into five academic divisions: humanities, social sciences, life sciences, physical sciences, and the International Institute. UCLA also offers certificate programs, undergraduate degree-credit and continuing education credits for non-full-time students through its UCLA Extension education program.
