Academic Affairs Manager - College of Nursing

 

This position supports the College of Nursing by ensuring the most effective operations of the academic programs through collaboration with Assistant Deans, Program Chairs and other CON departments. The position reports directly to the Executive Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and works with the Assistant Deans, Program Chairs and other CON stakeholders to help ensure effective daily operations of degree and certificate programs in the College. Primary responsibilities include:

• Collaborates with EADAA and various stakeholders to develop and execute efficient and effective operations for undergraduate and graduate programs
• Oversees academic service learning (ASL) for academic programs
• Collects, tracks and reports key data related to student testing and NCLEX preparation, and assists with the coordination of remediation activities for at risk students
• Other responsibilities as assigned by Assistant Deans, the Executive Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, and/or Dean

Job Duties:

•    Effectively communicates and collaborates with key positions in the CON including but not limited to: Asst Deans, program chairs, concentration coordinators, clinical coordinators, directors & managers with strategic oversight by the EADAA.
•     Ensures the most effective operations of the academic programs through collaboration with Assistant Deans, Program Chairs and other CON departments (Student Services, Marketing/PR, Finance, IT, Simulation, Compliance Officer) including, but not limited to:
o    Responsible for drafting documents for recommendations to flow through appropriate college committees (UG/Grad Curriculum, UG/Grad Student Affairs, UG /Grad Advisory Council, etc.) for program/process improvement and for updating approved policies in the Catalog and in Student Handbooks.
o    Collaborates with Marketing/PR Director regarding opportunities to showcase CON students and/or faculty.
o    Serves on College of Nursing and interdepartmental committees as assigned to facilitate information exchange about programs, problems, etc. 
o    Provides information to others to explain/clarify problems, issues or requests (UG/Grad Student Affairs, UG/Grad Curriculum, Health & Welfare, UG/Grad Advisory Council , CON Faculty Affairs).
o    In conjunction with the EADAA, oversees the peer teaching evaluation process for faculty members.
o    Collects and maintains a repository of key documentation including syllabi and course annual reports; facilitates distribution of course annual reports to the UG/Grad Curriculum Committees.
o    Utilizes a variety of systems including Banner and Argos to complete education verification requests across undergraduate and graduate programs.
o    Provides scheduling support for the University timetable
o    Oversees NCLEX license application process and data collection and tracking. Recommends strategies to ensure effective operations and execute approved processes
o    Coordinates with the Office of Student services to gather transcript and testing documentation for NCLEX.
o    Coordinates and communicates important academic affairs information with all nursing students (via learning management system Cohort /Program sites, face-to-face, email).
o    Assists UG Program Chairs with student on-boarding/orientation and ordering/acquiring/distribution of clinical badges, clinical attire, equipment, etc. to students.
o    Assists Graduate Programs with student on-boarding/orientation including facilitation of orientation requirements.
o    Collaborates with Asst. Deans, Program Chairs and CON Instructional Designer to maintain up-to-date CON academic program handbooks and program portfolios.
o    Assists the Nursing Honors Program Coordinator with UG Research Activities (EuRECA).
o    ATI Proctored Assessments: Scheduling of proctored assessments times/rooms and certified proctors based on guidelines/policies.
o    Serve as ATI Champion and primary contact with ATI Reps (yearly contracts, Faculty development, Live Review dates/info, etc). Provide support to faculty and students regarding specific issues/ questions regarding ATI Resources.
o    Collaborate with IT Director and/or designee regarding technology needs/questions (ATI, faculty requests, etc.)
o    Facilitate appropriate remediation instructions to at risk students based on individual student ATIresults.
o     Participate with Assistant Deans, Associate Dean of Clinical Practice, EADAA, and TBSN Program Chair in identifying and maintaining Academic Service Learning (ASL) partner sites.
o     Maintains up-to-date CON Mentor LMS site in collaboration with ASL Faculty Coordinator and Program Chairs.
 

 



Qualifications
Educational and Experience Requirement
Bachelor's degree with three or more years of experience in an academic setting 

Preferred Educational and Experience Requirement
Earned master’s degree; Experience with effective daily operations of degree and certificate programs in an academic setting 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required for this position:
Knowledge of nursing student degree program expectations and an understanding of federal, state, and local regulations related to health clearance requirements. Evidence of strong leadership and team building skills that foster collaboration; Computer literacy and strong skills with computer applications such as MS office. Willingness and capability to learn various databases and information programs to manage academic affairs operations, procedures, and files. Excellent communication and writing skills. Strong organizational skills, the ability to handle simultaneous projects, and the ability to make independent decisions and respond quickly and accurately to inquiries and requests. The ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written is essential to this position. As a representative of the academic programs of the College of Nursing, this position also requires a positive demeanor to promote the CON to internal and external constituents. The person in this position must develop an in-depth knowledge of resources and academic policies and procedures in order to answer student, faculty, and clinical partner questions accurately and to make appropriate referrals. The person in this position must be able to effectively handle multiple projects and to interact on a professional level with a broad base of individuals (administration, faculty, staff, clinical partners, students, etc) who interact with the Office of Academic Affairs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities preferred for this position:
Experience with Banner, Argos, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Pro, common digital literacy tools, learning management systems
