Maintenance Specialist II, Fs Zone Maintenance (7 Positions Available)

Regular, Full-time - MR04

The Zone Maintenance Specialists ll is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of all campus facilities which includes: buildings, grounds, and utility systems.  The Maintenance Specialist II is responsible to mentor new employees, share their skills and knowledge, teach proper safety techniques and procedures, assist their coworkers as needed. A Maintenance Specialist II repairs and performs routine maintenance on all mechanical/electrical within the envelope of buildings and perimeter as well as maintaining all lights, ceilings, doors, restrooms, HVAC equipment, etc.  This position also requires the ability to use and care for basic diagnostic test equipment.  Applicant must adhere to all safety procedures and trainings as required by the university, department and regulatory agencies.  The employee in this position will also be working special events at the University.  Due to frequently being the first point of contact, the Maintenance Specialist II should have superior communications skills and be able to effectively interact with all members of the Campus community, including but not limited to: staff, faculty, administration, students, visitors, contractors, and vendors.  The Maintenance Specialist II contributes to the overall success of Facilities Services by performing other essential duties (for example: snow removal) and responsibilities as assigned.  Employee must keep work site and maintenance shop clean and safe and check emails and work orders on a daily basis via computer and maintain inventory of required parts and materials.



Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

High school degree or equivalent required and 2 years experience, or the completion of a technical training program or an apprenticeship program.

Valid Driver’s License

Applicant should be able to work required shift

Maintenance Specialist II should demonstrate knowledge building and equipment in assigned area, be aware of any hazards particular to his zone.  Demonstrate skills and have knowledge of: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance; heating and cooling maintenance and repair.  Candidate should have the skill of keeping accurate records of building maintenance repairs.  Candidate should have effective public communication skills to interact with Campus community.  The applicant must have the ability to wear a respirator.  Must have the ability to climb a ladder and/or work on lift, when height of task is over six (6) feet high.  Ability to utilize power tools. Must be proficient in the use of Archibus system.  Applicant should be reliable in attendance, clean and neat in appearance.   Applicant should have the ability to climb ladders, work in high places, noisy environments and flashing lights.
