Nature of Work:

The Department of Pathology of the University of Colorado School of Medicine is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor eligible, full-time faculty position in the clinical areas of Surgical Pathology and Molecular Pathology.  The candidate will be an attending in our adult surgical pathology laboratory, based at the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) that processes over 35,000 surgical specimens per year. All anatomic pathology faculty at UCH participate in a shared subspecialty sign out model, with an active intra-operative (frozen section) and external consultation service.  Molecular work will be performed at an adjacent, departmentally owned and operated reference laboratory  (Colorado Molecular Correlates Laboratory or CMOCO) focused  on molecular testing as it relates to the diagnosis, prognosis, treatment selection and monitoring for a wide range of disease areas.

Principal activities will include Surgical Pathology clinical case evaluation and reporting, with a focus on 2 to 3 subspecialty areas (specific subspecialty areas to be determined) and data review and sign-out of clinical cases across a spectrum of molecular pathology applications.

Applicants must have AP or AP/CP residency and certification with additional training in Surgical Pathology AND MGP fellowship training with board certification or eligibility.  Applicants must seek an unrestricted medical license in the State of Colorado. This position may include opportunities for clinical and translational research.  Participation in molecular assay development activities is also offered.

    Serve as an attending pathologist in Surgical Pathology, rotating on 2 to 3 subspecialty services (specific subspecialty services to be determined), plus possible coverage of intra-operative consultationParticipate in the education of residents, fellows and other learners in Surgical PathologyRotates on Anatomic Pathology call (2-4 weeks per year)Serve as an attending in CMOCO for review of run-level and case-level molecular data, and individual case sign-outParticipate in the education of residents, fellows, laboratory staff and other learners in Molecular PathologyParticipate in performance improvement activities, quality control and proficiency testing; assist in maintaining compliance with CAP accreditation and other internal and external regulatory standards.Participate in applied research and development projects directed towards unique or improved laboratory tests and servicesEngagement in translational and/or clinical researchParticipate in departmental, school, and professional committeesParticipate in clinical conferences as indicated
Salary and Benefits:

The hiring rate (or budgeted rate) for this position has been established at $225,000

Minimum Requirements: 

Candidates must be board certified in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology AND board certified or eligible for Molecular Genetic Pathology.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
