Job Summary/Responsibilities:

The Video Editor is responsible for aiding and assisting Spinnaker TV in all aspects of video pre and post-production. This includes, but is not limited to, producing still image graphics, motion graphics, and video post-production work, utilizing the full Adobe Suite, for multiple series to be published on its various platforms, including Channel 15-1, YouTube, and Spinnaker TV’s website. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. The employee may be asked to perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of Spinnaker. Employees must meet the responsibilities and qualifications of the position consistent with a minimum of 11 hours of competent effort each week. The Video Editor will:

  • Familiarize themselves with Spinnaker Media and its brands, policies, and deadlines;
  • Edit at least two episodes and two packages per week;
  • Assist and consult with other staff and volunteers on editing other video packages;
  • Secure proper rights and releases for each show/episode, ensuring that Spinnaker has rights to use music, photos, graphics, etc.;
  • Coordinate with the Station Manager, Creative Content Producer, and Promotions Director on promotion material to ensure that Spinnaker’s shows are actively promoted on all social media channels;
  • Meet deadlines in a quick-paced environment;
  • Communicate with staff according to department policies;
  • Meet weekly with the Station Manager;
  • Be available for weekly office hours; and,
  • Stay aware of trends in the industry, including video formats and dimensions used on each platform.

Required Qualifications:

Must be a current UNF student.

This position requires a good understanding of video production, Adobe Premiere and other non-linear editing software, and video file formats.
Must be continuously enrolled at UNF for the duration of the position and not be on academic probation or suspension as defined by the most recent University of North Florida course catalog.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completed course work in digital video production, communication ethics, or communication law is helpful but not required for the position.
